February Is For Simple Swaps
So here we are at the end of a rather dreary January, but the light is returning! February 1st marks Imbolc, the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. The wild garlic is peeking through the earth and should be ready to harvest in a few weeks!
This year I am honouring this day with a firewalk, hosted by fabulous hubber, Helen Skinner, a certified firewalking practitioner and a hypnotherapist; I can’t wait to leave behind that which no longer serves me as I move forwards with renewed passion and intention. Growth is at the end of our comfort zone and walking across burning hot coals is quite far outside my normal realm of comfort! It’s always good to challenge ourselves and keep learning new things, which is what I love to share with all you lovely Hubbers!
There are so many healing modalities, and tools at our disposal to keep us happy, balanced and well. We just have to be open to new things and be prepared to take action when we are guided to.
So after a slow start to the year, we are focusing on simple swaps this month.
It’s often the simple things done consistently that add up to big benefits for our health! There is too much negativity around eating well, so many folks think that healthy food is boring! It’s the exact opposite, it’s a cornucopia of abundance of colours, textures and flavours with infinite choice! It’s not about restriction, rather it’s about abundance of all the good things, and a simple change in mindset can shift our perception, once we know that the food we are eating is not only delicious but feeding our precious gut buddies too.
So we will be switching out some classic comfort foods for healthier options for common meals and foods such as: Mac and cheese, Pizza, Shepherds pie, Sausage rolls, Wraps and sandwiches, Cakes and cookies, Chocolate
The wholefood versions are full of flavour and goodness that fill you up in the best ways- no compromise or deprivation required. We’ll also be looking at the quality of our products and where we can swap for better alternatives: oils, salt and seasonings, bread and beauty products too. Lots to share as usual!
I recently attended an evening with The Happy Pear guys at Oran Mhor and they were talking about ferments a lot! They are such lovely guys, enthusiastic, fun and passionate about spreading the message on eating plant-based food. I got a mention from the stage which was lovely! I knew so many people at the event, who had attended workshops or follow me on social media and a few Hubbers were there too! So I am now thinking I could easily host a similar event introducing the concept of the Wellness Hub and my own obsession with the wonderful world of ferments!
In good health
